The Songs of Ascents were sung by the people of Israel about 3000 years ago when they went up to Jerusalem to worship God there.

These texts still have a lot to say to us today. Anyone who has become a Christian, i.e. everyone who has consciously accepted Jesus Christ into his life has been called by God with a heavenly calling. This calling is upward, that is, God wants us Christians to “ascend” in our experience with the living God. The Bible shows us that there must be growth in our Christian life. We should not remain the same year after year as believers. No, God expects us to grow and be changed for Christ.
